| 2007-10-28: | Black Widow's long-awaited full-length filmed concert performance from 1970 including the whole legendary Black Magic show from Sacrifice is going to see the light of day very soon. This package will be titled Demons of the Night Gather to see Black Widow Live (MYS CD 666) and it includes the concert both as CD and DVD. Tracks featured are: In Ancient Days, Way to Power, Come to the Sabbat, Conjuration, Seduction, Attack Of The Demon and Sacrifice. You can mailorder this release directly from Mystic Records. Here are some extracts from Clive's sleevenotes: "The Sacrifice show was put together with the help of Alex Sanders and his wife Maxine"..."Together Alex and the band worked to ensure that everything in the show was totally authentic"..."The BBC thought that promoting 'Black Magic' to the kids might not do their image much good and refused to play the album or single 'Come To The Sabbat' - the single tipped by the music press to go to No1 suffered through the BBC ban and although it entered the lower reaches of the charts it could not break into the top ten". How this DVD release came about? "Having worked hard to keep the Black Widow name alive over the years I tried for a long time to trace this recording. Nothing was forthcoming until I contacted Birte Zywko International Sales Manager working for Beat Club. Birte told me a recording had been traced but it was in poor condition and that it would take a month to remaster it from the original tape. Birte promised to send me a copy and true to her word one month later it arrived"..."Watching the show I was totally amazed. I could not even remember filming it". Clive mentions he couldn't remember filming it because he really thought they only performed the song "Sacrifice" but as Clive mentions: "Nervous but excited I put it into DVD player - this would be the first time I would ever see a recording of the band from all those years ago. To my surprise it started with the song 'In Ancient Days' - it was the complete show!". |

The Swedish band The Airwaves have just recorded an ABBA tribute song called "Hey You Ring Me Tonight" written by our own Black Widower Clive Jones. The song is based on 15 different ABBA song titles. Geoff Griffith has been working hard on new Black Widow music and he wishes soon to enter the studio with Clive Jones and maybe with Romeo Challenger to continue the project to turn it into a proper, classic, black magic Black Widow concept album. Clive Jones has also been inspired to write some new Black Widow music so these times are very exciting for Black Widow fans! |
